Boyce Upholt

Purpose Statement: Building connections by documenting the world.

Boyce Upholt is a freelance writer and editor, based in Cleveland, Mississippi. Raised in Connecticut, he taught high school math as a Teach For America corps member in South Dakota, and moved to Mississippi to work for the organization in 2009. He is a graduate of Haverford College, and received an MFA in fiction writing from Warren Wilson College, and is currently at work on a book about the Mississippi River.

Boyce is a freelance journalist. He is at work on "Between the Levees," a project to document the fragile ecosystem and cultural history of the landscape along the Mississippi River, and to connect Southerners with the unique and little-known wilderness that runs through their backyard.

Fun Fact: Boyce has spent the night in 46 different states.
