Anna Catharine McLain strives to serve others and support students in the Delta as they prepare for college and careers.

Anna Catharine grew up in Montgomery, Alabama with her three sisters and attended the University of Alabama where she received her Bachelor’s degree in History. She joined TFA in 2016 and taught 1st grade at Brooks Elementary in Duncan, Mississippi. She has now been a member of the Clarksdale Collegiate team for five years in several roles, currently as the school’s librarian and RTI coordinator.

Anna Catharine’s project is launching a program to teach and expand leadership skills for 6th graders to increase their ownership and engagement in their own learning. She is working with other teachers and staff to assess the precise needs of the students and create lesson plans to meet those needs and improve the students' leadership skills.

Fun Fact: Anna Catharine grew up hot air ballooning with her family because her dad was a hot air balloon pilot.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not touched by the frost.
