Katie works to create supportive spaces for the young people of Clarksdale, MS, and strives to help build pathways to success for all students in Mississippi.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Katie is a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she studied Social Studies Education and Spanish. She moved to Quitman County in 2011 where she served as a middle school English/History teacher. She has worked to support teachers as a Teacher Leadership Development Coach with TFA Mississippi, and has also done development work for various non-profit organizations in the Delta. Her professional career is ever-evolving, but has always been driven by a passion to illuminate the brilliance of young people.

Katie's Social Entrepreneurship Project is focused on supporting Clarksdale Opportunity Youth ages 16-24. She is partnering with the Meraki Workforce Development Program to develop an intentional living space that inspires community involvement and personal development.
