Valencia Lloyd

Valencia is passionate about creating and being involved in sustainable community ventures that empower, enrich and uplift communities of color in Mississippi.

Valencia hails from Forest, MS where she was an active member of her community until she graduated in 2012. She attended the University of Mississippi from 2012 to 2016. Valencia received her Bachelors in Psychology. In 2016, Valencia was excepted into Teach for America Mississippi. She carried out her Teach for America commitment at Brown Elementary School in Jackson, MS. Valencia is currently teaching for a third year in her hometown of Forest, MS. Her love and commitment to improving the education system in Mississippi stem from 24 years of experience in the system.

Valencia's Social Entrepreneurship project is to create a sustainable, holistic wellness system of mental health in public education for students, teachers, and community stakeholders. This service is to be provided by mental health personnel within schools (i.e. school counselors) or an outside organization created with the intention of working primarily in schools.
