TFA Graduate Fellows Program

Cohort 3

Samantha Macy

Master of Education in Elementary Education

Jackson, MS

Samantha’s mission is to facilitate students cultivating their passion and understand the power that their voices have.

Samantha is from Detroit, Michigan, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations with a minor in Creative Writing from Western Michigan University. At WMU, she worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the Western Herald. She served as a Teach for America corps member where she taught first grade in Jackson, and she is now teaching fifth grade math at Reimagine Prep in Jackson.

For her social entrepreneurship project, she will be developing an after-school writing program for upper elementary and middle school students to help students build a love of writing. She will use the after school program to develop a creative writing curriculum, which she will pilot and test at other schools in her second year of the fellowship.

Fun Fact: Samantha enjoys running and is currently training for her second half marathon.

I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
